Obituary of William "Billy" McCool

William L. “Billy” McCool of Canyon Country, California passed away on October 4, 2021 at the age of 50 due to complications related to pneumonia and COVID-19. Billy was born October 5, 1970 to Richard and Carolyn McCool. At a young age, Billy developed a strong work ethic by working with his father, Dick, and later with a family member, Scott McKenzie, doing yard work and helping in the garage from the ages of 9 to 16. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1989. Upon obtaining his driver’s license, Billy joined his father and close family friend Jerry Lawless in their shared love of off-road racing buggies, winning many races including a Legend car race and becoming a beloved member of the Checker Off Road Club. His son William became the third generation to enjoy this pastime. Billy started working for Magic Ford in high school as an auto mechanic and subsequently worked for several auto dealerships. Billy became the “go to” guy for all things auto-related. He began fabricating and quickly realized he wanted to start a new career as a picture car mechanic. He went on to work on many feature films and TV shows. Billy valued and loved his friends and family. His smile, laughter, and smart-ass sense of humor will be missed. Billy is survived by his parents Richard and Carolyn McCool, wife Jennifer McKim McCool, and his son William. Billy is also survived by a sister Tamara Kirk, niece Kaitlynn Kirk, Great Aunt Kay, and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Steven Kirk and nephew Steven Kirk III.
