Edward Fidyk, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, at the age of 94 at the Oakmont of Simi Valley Retirement Home. Edward was a man of remarkable strength, resilience, and determination. Born in 1931, Edward survived the hardships of World War II as an orphan, a challenge that forged his extraordinary character and unwavering will to thrive. After the war, he served as a policeman in Łódź, Poland, before embarking on a courageous journey to build a new life in the West. Edward’s path was one of relentless effort and adaptability. From working in a French restaurant kitchen to mastering electrical work in Austria—where he met and married his beloved wife, Lydia—he faced each challenge with determination. Later, as a traveling gold salesman in Venezuela, he demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit before settling in Los Angeles, California, where he established a life rooted in hope and opportunity. Edward’s legacy is defined by his hard work, perseverance and his ability to find joy and purpose in every chapter of his life. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lydia, as well as extended family members who cherished his wisdom and strength. A funeral service to honor Edward’s final resting place will take place on December 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley (1380 Fitzgerald Rd, Simi Valley, CA 93065). Following the service, a celebration of Edward’s extraordinary life will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Oakmont of Simi Valley Retirement Home (Bar Room at 3110 Royal Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93065). Edward’s life remains a powerful testament to the enduring human spirit. May he rest in peace, with his legacy forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.
