Obituary of Richard Warder Rightmire IV

Richard Warder Rightmire IV “Rich” Age 55 of Lancaster, CA passed away on August 27, 2023. Funeral service will be held at The Valley of Peace on September 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The Valley of Peace is located at 44901 10th St West Lancaster, CA 93534. Rich was born in Walnut Grove, CA to Richard Rightmire III and Cheryl Murdaugh on June 11, 1968. He graduated in 1986 from Breman High School in Midlothian, Illinois. During the winter of ’83, Rich became a professional BMX rider and received many awards and trophies. His passion for riding overflowed so much, he also opened a bike shop at the young age of 25 called Precision Cycling in hopes to spark an interest in others to get into BMX riding. Rich then went on to working for the railroads for many years. Eventually, Rich worked for Thrifty and finally Rite Aid Distribution Center as transportation manager for 9 years until his retirement due to PLS and Parkinson’s disease. He enjoyed working on cars and watching Nascar and football, especially his beloved Chicago Bears. In 2019, he went on a cruise that his best friend Moses planned in his honor. Rich received a Lifetime Achievement Award, handed to him by the captain of the ship. He was touched to receive such an award from friends that he hadn’t seen in years. Rich was truly a one of a kind person. He was happy with the little things in life, such as riding and racing his bicycle, drinking his diet Dr. Pepper, and eating his candy and pizza. He also loved driving around in his Challenger while listening to Tom Petty or Jim Croce. Rich is survived by his loving fiancé, Jennifer Nelson of Lancaster, CA, children Rebecca Weaver, Samantha Barbee, Amanda Blum, and Richard Allen Rightmire, five grandchildren that he loved very much, mother Cheryl Murdaugh of Illinois, and stepfather Harold Murdaugh of Illinois. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Warder Rightmire III and grandpa Jack.
