Obituary of Kevin S. Muzycka

Please share a memory of Kevin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kevin S. Muzycka of Saugus, California passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Kevin was born on July 1, 1953 in Manhattan, New York to the late Emil and Ann Muzycka. He grew up in the Bronx with his parents and siblings: sister Karen and brother Colin. He graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1972. After high school Kevin attended Manhattan College and graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He started working in the electrical engineering and computer field after college and was subsequently offered a position with a Los Angeles based company. He jumped at the opportunity, made the move, and never looked back. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, he enrolled at UCLA and earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He also took several courses in Computer Science and Administration along the course of his career which included developing communication systems for the military (specifically the Navy and Air Force), traveling around the world installing and testing equipment and programs, and working on many other "secret" assignments which only he and his associates knew of. In 1994, Kevin met Lisa Gallant and the two of them married in 1998. Kevin instantly became a stepfather to Steven Heirshberg and Wendy Heirshberg, and while gaining an instant family was challenging, he was up to the task. Kevin retired in 2012 giving him time to pursue his hobbies which included camping, boating, gardening, tinkering around the house, and showing off his pride and joy - that being a 1970 Convertible Pontiac GTO which he named “Rosie.” He loved vintage cars and never missed an opportunity to attend car shows taking Rosie with him, of course. Kevin had recently developed a passion for music and enrolled at the local community college taking guitar and piano lessons which he excelled at. He even started writing his own music. Kevin was brilliant and incredibly gifted in his ability to catch onto things quickly, whatever those things may have been. He had a very dry sense of humor and loved helping his neighbors. Kevin is survived by his wife Lisa, sister Karen (Jeff) Haack, brother Colin, stepson Steven (Brooke) Heirshberg, and stepdaughter Wendy Heirshberg. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Ann Muzycka. Services are on April 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Santa Clarita, CA with burial at Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Chatsworth, CA.
