Vera Renteria Obituary

Vera Renteria passed away on February 7, 2021 in Palmdale, CA at the age of 73. Vera was born on August 18, 1947 in Cheb, Czechoslovakia to Josef Novy and Marketa Shonfeldova. In 1969, Vera came to the United States where she continued to pursue higher education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Central Missouri in 1971. She then obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Kansas City Missouri in 1977. In 1981, Vera received her teaching certificate with a Bachelor of Science in Math and Science from Central Washington University. From 1975-1977, Vera worked as an instructor in microbiology. After receiving her teaching certificate, she worked as a teacher, teaching student of all grade levels. In addition to teaching, Vera spent many years of her life in ministry, which became her life’s passion. She worked as a missionary in the United States and Mexico. Vera devoted her life to following God and bringing his love to others. Vera enjoyed an active lifestyle. She loved to go on hikes in the mountains as well as on different trails with her husband. She also enjoyed spending time at the ocean. Vera is survived by her husband Antonio Renteria and her son Timothy Novy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Josef Novy and Marketa Shonfeldova (née Marsha Novy). A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday March 6, 2021 at 10:00 at Westside Christian Fellowship. All are welcome to come and celebrate Vera Renteria’s life. There will a livestream on YouTube. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Westside Christian Fellowship 9306 Leona Ave, Leona Valley, CA 93551 on the day of the service (please request delivery for two hours prior to the service).
