Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Robert Dean "Coach" Sisco
March 25, 1942 – May 1, 2026
Robert (Bob) Dean Sisco , affectionately known to generations as "Coach," passed into glory on May 1, 2026, at the age of 84. Bob leaves behind a profound legacy of leadership, mentorship, and an unwavering dedication to helping others achieve their highest potential.
A Life of Athletics and Education
Raised in West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, Bob was a gifted natural athlete. He excelled in football and baseball during his high school years and went on to play baseball at the collegiate level. His passion for sports naturally transitioned into a lifelong calling as a dedicated coach and teacher.
In 1968, Bob and his beloved wife, Nancy, moved to Thousand Oaks, California, where they would build their life, raise their family, and become staples of the Wildwood and Thousand Oaks community. Whether he was guiding players on the baseball/softball fields, cross-country team, or fine-tuning a swing on the golf course, Coach Sisco poured his heart into his students and players, teaching them as much about character and perseverance as he did about the game.
Family and Legacy
While he was "Coach" to many, his greatest joy was his family. As both a father and a coach to his children, Bob spent countless hours instilling the fundamentals of the game, and more importantly, the fundamentals of life to his children. The lessons they carry with them today are a testament to both Bob's and Nancy’s parenting roles, and as their greatest advocates and teachers.
As Close as Family
For those who knew Bob as coach, friend, neighbor, or brother in Christ, we would like you to know the incredible impact you had on his life; (and if you bled Dodger Blue with him, all the more).
Bob watched, listened, studied, and grew as a man and believer, and we are eternally grateful for how God worked in his life.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Everett Sisco; his mother, Marguerite Sisco; and his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Robert Remillard.
His memory and impact will be carried forward by those who loved him dearly, including: his Devoted Wife: Nancy (Coyne) Sisco; his Sister: Jeannie Parenteau; his Children: Steve Sisco (Karena), Sherlynne Amezcua; his Grandchildren: Allie Narog (Alex), Jed Sisco, Danica Amezcua, and Samuel Amezcua; his Great Grand Children: Solenne Narog, Maren Narog; and his Nephews: Scott Remillard and Rick Remillard (Ro)
Bob lived a life defined by service to others, a competitive spirit, and a deep love for his friends, family and his Lord and Savior. His influence will continue to be felt by his family and the countless athletes, students, and loved ones he inspired
A Memorial Reception will be held on June 6th at The Bridge Church in Newbury Park. The reception will be an open house visitation from 4pm-6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Coach Sisco’s memory to the Kingdom work of The Bridge Church https://www.bridgechurch.us/give
