Eric Christopher Kohli, a devoted husband, father, and passionate community coach, passed away peacefully at Glendale Adventist Hospital, Glendale, CA, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 52, with loved ones by his side.
Born in Rome, NY, on September 26, 1973, to Kenneth and Sheila (Tormey) Kohli, Eric was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He attended Rome schools, graduating from Rome Free Academy in 1991, and earning a degree in Communications from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1995. He most recently served as a Senior Derivatives Specialist at State Street Financial Services.
Eric was united in marriage with Lillian Chu from Apex, NC, by his uncle, the Reverend James Tormey at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Rome, NY on September 2, 2000. After living in several locations, Eric and Lillian settled in Simi Valley, CA, where they raised their three children: Ainsley Emma, William Patrick, and Gabriella Elizabeth.
Eric had a lifelong passion for sports, which he poured into his community. He was a devoted coach and served on the board for Simi Valley Girls Softball and loved his time as a soccer coach for the Simi Valley AYSO. Earlier in life, he coached his youngest brother, Marc, in Lee Legion baseball.
Eric was a lifelong fan of the California Angels, regularly attending games with his family at Anaheim Stadium. They were also most recently Los Angeles Rams season ticket holders. Eric’s love of music was well-known. He especially loved the band Pearl Jam. Eric and Lillian traveled great distances to see them perform live, notably in Seattle, WA and then Minneapolis, MN to celebrate their anniversary.
Eric was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and a cousin, and his father-in-law, Herbert Chu. He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Chu) Kohli, his son, Will, daughters, Ainsley and Gabby, three brothers: Michael (Carey Godfrey) Kohli of Rome, NY, Kevin (Stephanie Gerasia) Kohli of Colonie, NY, Marc (Melissa Murphy) Kohli of Rome, NY, and several nieces and nephews: Molly Kohli of Henrietta, NY, Alix Kohli of Rome, NY, Nicholas Kohli of Colonie, NY, Lena Kohli of Colonie, NY, Joshua Kohli of New Hartford, NY, Sean Kohli of New Hartford, NY, and Liviella Murphy of Rome, NY.
A celebration of life will take place in his hometown of Rome, NY, on December 13, 2025 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Rome, NY. A local celebration of life is also being planned for a later date in the Simi Valley area. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to remember Eric, to consider donating to the 911 Day organization, a cause Eric cared deeply about.
