Susan Anne Imperial–mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a dear friend–passed away on July 6, 2024 from pancreatic cancer. She was laid to rest surrounded by her children, her father, and her stepmother.
Sue was born October 29, 1969 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois to parents Judith Slater and Dennis Slater (Kathy). She is survived by her children–Zachary (Danielle), Amanda, and Samantha; her grandchildren–Hayley and Anthony; her father; and her brother, Chad (Wendy) and niece, Seeley. She also has a large extended family and many friends that miss her dearly. Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Slater (2020), and her husband, Orlando Imperial (2008).
Sue was married in October 1991 to Orlando Imperial, and they had three children together. Sue and “O” loved to spend time as a family of five by going on camping trips and attending family shows in Las Vegas year-round. They also played games together, such as Monopoly and Chicken Feet. Since 2009, she lived in her home in Acton, California where she spent warm days by the pool or cooking for her family and friends, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
As with all things in her life, Sue’s career was a journey with many twists and turns. She was always looking for ways to succeed and improve her station, and rarely took “no” for an answer. She worked jobs anywhere from waitressing as a teenager to running a company. She found success as a leader in the security industry as well as in real estate. Her dream was to retire and have a farm of her own, mirroring the life she knew well in childhood.
As a child growing up in the midwest, Sue was known in her neighborhood by her bright blonde hair and wild personality. Far into adulthood, she brought life into every room she entered. Her laugh was boisterous and unforgettable. She deeply cared for her loved ones, and was always looking for ways to help those around her. She was ambitious, passionate, and stubborn. She loved to travel, loved to entertain guests in her home, and loved to swim.
A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Hawaii. Her wishes were to have her ashes spread in the ocean, where she always felt she belonged.
