Stanley Lim Obituary

On March 19, 2025, at age 89, Stanley Kim Lim, was peacefully promoted to glory from his home in Valencia, California with family by his side.

Stanley was born in a small farming village of Toisan, China. With the violence of war in China, his mother wanted a better life for her only surviving young son and sent him to the United States in 1947.

He grew up in Tucson, AZ where he lived with his uncle. When he was 16 years old, he began working at a grocery store and worked there until he entered the U.S. Army in 1957. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA and then Fort Ord near Monterey, CA where he was a sharp shooter and where he learned his culinary skills. He was a Specialist 4 and served our country honorably and was discharged in 1959. After his discharge, Stanley served two more years in the medical reserve in Tucson.

In 1968, Stanley and his wife Pauletta moved, settling in southern California. In 1976, Stanley was invited to attend a men’s retreat where he heard the gospel and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. They both committed to living their lives to glorify God. Shortly thereafter became longtime members of Grace Community Church.

Stanley began putting his culinary skills to work with a catering business serving many functions at their church. His most memorable was feeding thousands at the annual Shepherds Conference, which he did for several years at Grace Community Church. Even today, many still fondly remember his delicious meals.

In 2001, he achieved one of his greatest accomplishments when he became a naturalized citizen. He was very proud to be an American.

He and his wife retired in Valencia, CA and became members at Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and spending time with family. He found joy in knowing his children love the Lord as he did. He loved reading and he would sit and read the scriptures for hours.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauletta and his four children: Corona (married to Greg Mayhugh), Lila (married to Paul Vornbrock), Stacy and Chris (married to Chrisie Reid). He has eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Stanley’s life has touched so many, and he will be missed.
